It’s always the quiet places where the madness happens. On behalf of IFC Midnight, we are pleased to share the official US trailer and brand new poster for the their upcoming horror-comedy, GRABBERS. When an alien invasion strikes in a sleepy Ireland town, the residents learn that the only way to stay safe… is to stay drunk. The film was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival and is sure to become a cult classic! Check out the official poster and trailer and see why IGN called the film “as ridiculous as it is entertaining.”

I liked this one people. Now don’t get me wrong…I’m a fan of monster movies, supernatural flicks, crazed maniacs and more. But it was cool seeing a movie about…MOTHER NATURE…and one thing we know about her…SHE DON’T PLAY. (lol)

AFTERSHOCK stars some people I’ve never seen before – - well…except for Eli Roth. YES…CABIN FEVER, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, HOSTEL Eli Roth. So if you’re a fan of his – - watch it. (lol) But seriously. It’s a good movie and worth a watch. It’s crazy – - when an earthquake hits and causes chaos – - – PEOPLE START TO LOOSE THEIR MIND. It’s nuts what some people will do to survive OR…just be sick assholes when there isn’t any law around. If you’re down with WTF or intense movies – give AFTERSHOCK  a try. My favorite part – - seeing Selena Gomez. YES…. ‘THE’ Selena Gomez. (lol)

I give AFTERSHOCK… 3 ½ of 5 popcorns!

I finally watched THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY. It wasn’t bad…but it wasn’t great either. It’s a simple film…actually it’s a ‘documnetary’ film…picture THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT…minus all the running camera shaking and that’s the feel you get when watching THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY. The whole time I was watching this – I was thinking, “Mannn, they have to be seriously cold.” (lol) I thought it was a cool flick – with a cool story. I did think it could have used more blood though…way more blood. (lol)

I give THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY… 2 1/2 of out 5 popcorns!

STORAGE 24 – I checked it out last night on Netflix streaming. For being a ‘creature’ flick…it wasn’t THAT bad.

The movie takes place in London – Yep…hot chicks with accents. SOLD! (lol) The movie starts off with an explosion – plane crashes and there’s a metal box on the ground – - – by the look of it – - “Something” was in this metal box. Night time comes and we meet a group of people and a few strangers who happen to be stopping by a storage facility – - picture a U-Haul Self Storage place…but BIGGER…wayyyyy bigger. As we continue to watch – we see that there’s drama between these folks. One dude has recently been dumped by his girlfriend – that’s why he’s there with his best friend…to pick up HIS stuff from the storage unit. The bad thing is – - his x girl friend is there at the unit as well – with HER friends. AWKWARD. Well – if that wasn’t enough…the power of the facility is tripping because of the plane accident and well…THERE’S A CREATURE RUNNING AROUND…READY TO KILL. So the group of ‘not so’ friends have to team up – - survive AND escape.

Like I said before – STORAGE 24 wasn’t that bad of a movie – people in my circle made it sound a lot worse. (lol) Yes…the creature looks a little cheesy in some parts. But it works. I thought the blood/kill scenes were cool.

Is it worth a watch? Yeah, why not.

I give STORAGE 24… 3 out of 5 popcorns!

REVIEW: Poltergeist

The truth about humanity comes to terrify in “The Purge” where true evil can be as close as a neighbor. The frightening part is that there is no supernatural being that is scaring the living daylight out of the Sandin Family, it’s just the malicious nature that dwells inside people.

Highly successful home security salesman James Sandin, played by Ethan Hawke, comes home, on the day of the purge, after a hard day of work to be with his family in his safe beautiful mansion, which he bought with the money he made from exploiting the fears of his neighbors.

The Purge is a day where ALL crimes are legal, including murder.

Charlie Sandin, youngest son of James, played by Max Burkholder, not understanding the need for the purge questions his mother, Mary Sandin, played by Lena Headey, and father. Their oldest daughter, Zoey Sandin, played by Adelaide Kane, is a typical rebellious teen that doesn’t care about anything and is caught up in her own world to care about anything around her. They are a typical family and there seems to be nothing special about any of them. They barricade themselves inside their mansion as they wait for night of “unleashing the beast” to be over. Zoey’s boyfriend Henry, played by Tony Oller, is determined to confront her father and settle things with him. Charlie disarms the house allowing for a stranger, played by Edwin Hodge, to enter putting the family in danger. Chaos breaks loose as the the film progresses showing what a father would do to protect his family, what a man would do to survive and the disgusting nature of self-righteous arrogant youth who are given privileges they do not fully comprehend consequences for.

Hawke is compelling bringing charisma to his stuck up character and compassion for his family. He is the main focus of the story through the film as it seems that it is him against the villains to protect his family. The conscious and attention grabber of the film is Burkholder. His naive innocence has audiences rooting for him and stuck wanting to see what happens to him. He captures the audience by being different and sticking to his convictions. The film builds up immense tension that lead to a fantastic action scene that inspires more fear. The ending comes with a common finale that has been seen over and over again. There is no gratifying pay off to the film.

I give this film 4 out of 5 stars. The use of human nature as the evil that chases these characters is brilliant and chilling. The acting is good although many of the jumps are due to loud noises that over power the the acting. This is a great movie to watch in theaters and a very frightening experience.

A 21st century Jack the Ripper set in the present day, MANIAC is a reboot of the cult film considered by many to be the most suspenseful slasher movie ever made. Frank (Elijah Wood, in a tour de force performance) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates and the number of victims increases, it becomes clear that Frank is far more dangerous than he seems. With a pulsating electronic score by Rob, the film is an intimate, visually daring, psychologically complex and profoundly horrific trip into the downward spiraling nightmare of a killer and his victims.

I’m excited for this one. This the 2nd trailer for the film and Elijah Wood. TALK ABOUT FREAKY. May 21 is the big day. I just might have to search for this one on iTunes. (lol)

Now…this already looks better than the first one…BUT…they sure are showing a lot in this trailer. (lol) Like…I hope there’s some movie left for us to see. (lol)
