Summer collection inspired by exclusive visit to the DC Comics archives

MINNEAPOLIS (May 13, 2013) – In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Target^® Corp. (NYSE: TGT) and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, in partnership with DC Entertainment, have teamed up to introduce an extensive summer collection of exclusive Justice League merchandise. The summer collection was inspired by “DC Comics – The New 52” comic book character designs and holds surprises for fans young and old. Featuring the full lineup of DC Comics’ iconic Justice League Super Heroes – Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman and Wonder Woman – the summer collection will launch at all U.S. Target stores and on Target.com beginning May 19.

The summer collection was co-created by the Target and Warner Bros. Consumer Products design teams and features contemporary and nostalgic, vintage-inspired graphics and designs. With more than 50 summer products available exclusively at Target, guests will see the collection come to life in home, stationery, sporting goods, and lawn and garden. Some of the more unexpected items include melamine dinnerware that features a purple and pink-clad Wonder Woman; an apron that transforms the cook into Batman; sand toys that will help beach-goers create Gotham City; and children’s Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash beach towels that double as capes.

“We know Target’s guests love discovering unique merchandise, and this collection delivers the unexpected with a dash of great design. Fans of all ages are sure to love these one-of-a-kind summer items,” said Greg Van Bellinger, director of product design and development, Target.

“DC Comics’ Justice League characters are a powerful assemblage of the most recognizable Super Heroes in the history of comic books. We are incredibly excited to offer fans of all ages a unique collection and collaboration that pairs the heroics of the Justice League characters with the product design and marketing super powers of Target,” said Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

In addition to the exclusive summer collection, Target will be part of a broader partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products that will offer more traditional Justice League licensed products. The broader partnership will span more than 20 categories including home, stationery, toys, apparel and accessories. All Justice League licensed products will range from $1 for Justice League temporary tattoos to $59.99 for a Justice League Rocker Chair. Target will also offer Justice League Halloween costumes for kids later this year.

With the release of “Justice League #1” in 2011, DC Entertainment officially kicked off “DC Comics – The New 52” as part of a re-launch of their entire comic book line of 52 new number one issues. “DC Comics – The New 52” Super Heroes are presented in a more contemporary way, including new costumes, characters and storylines.

The fan community is abuzz today with a new rumor that suggests that Batman’s next big screen appearance might not be in the proposed Warner Bros. reboot but could, instead, be as a team member of the seemingly fast-tracked Justice League. The story, which originated at Batman on Film, suggests that the superhero ensemble will be the next DC Comics superhero adaptation after next summer’s Man of Steel.

The major element that appears to lend credence to this report is the fact that Justice League has a completed screenplay from Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall while another solo adventure of the Caped Crusader currently exists almost entirely in speculation. Some have suggested that Warner Bros. should find a way to continue Christopher Nolan’s trilogy while others have called for a more dramatic reboot of the character, potentially adapting a property like “Batman Beyond.”

Come join the comedy party with Gabriel Iglesias as he hosts COMEDY CENTRAL’s series, “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution.” On November 15, “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution” will be released in North America on DVD by COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. The uncensored two disc set featuring over 40 minutes of new material from Iglesias, includes the seventh Secret Stash episode, extended episodes with over two hours of content that did not appear in the broadcast episodes, outtakes and the music video for the show’s theme song, “Hey It’s Fluffy.”  The release coincides with the broadcast finale and hits stores just in time for holiday gift giving.

Filmed at Phoenix’s newest club, Stand Up Live, the series features stand-up sets from Iglesias and his funniest comedian friends plus music from three-time Grammy^® award-winners Ozomatli, the house band.  The series, “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution,” premiered on COMEDY CENTRAL on Thursday, October 6 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

On “Stand-Up Revolution,” Iglesias opens each of the episodes with all-new material and introduces different stand-up guests during each show.  Comedian and long-time friend, Martin Moreno, is the show announcer and guest commentator, occupying his own podium next to Iglesias throughout the series. Other comics appearing in the series include: Cristela Alonzo, Zhivago Blea, Tommy Chunn, Joey CoCo Diaz, Dillon Garcia, Dennis Gaxiola, Noe Gonzalez, Rick Gutierrez, Maz Jobrani, Shaun Latham, Rudy Moreno, Larry Omaha, Carlos Oscar, Alfred Robles, Cleto Rodriguez, Edwin San Juan, Paul Varghese and Thea Vidale.

Known as the “Fluffy” comic in a Hawaiian shirt, Iglesias’ animated comedy style combining storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects has earned him national crossover appeal, making him popular among fans of all ages.  Iglesias has starred in two COMEDY CENTRAL one-hour specials, both of which had corresponding DVDs.  His most recent release, “I’m Not Fat… I’m Fluffy” debuted in 2009 and his first special/DVD “Hot & Fluffy” was released in 2007.  Iglesias has sold over one million DVD & Blu-ray units to date.
