From the makers of 30 Days of Night and The Grudge…DANCE OF THE DEAD is born! Now people…I just wanna start off by saying…I liked this one…not a bad zombie flick. DANCE OF THE DEAD is pretty about a bunch of high school kids – dealing with their own personal problems. It’s now time for PROM and everyone starts finding dates – well, unfortunately some aren’t so lucky…pizza boy Jimmy gets into a fight with his girlfriend Lindsey and she decides to go with someone else, Steven of the science club TRYS to ask out a cheerleader, but that doesn’t work out to well…yeah – the geeks, nerds, and trouble makers ain’t got no luck.
Well, on the night of prom – the science club geeks decide to investigate the local cemetery for fun – - ALL OF SUDDEN…ZOMBIES!! ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE!! Now, this where it gets pretty cool – the zombies start SHOOTING out of graves! Yep – like a catapult! I’d never seen that before – but it was pretty cool and funny all in one…these zombies would just shoot out and start running! So…long story short…since the nerds, geeks, and trouble makers did NOT go to prom and all the ‘cool’ kids did…the ‘nerd crew’ are the ONLY ones who can save the day. They pretty much head off to the school to save whatever students are left – killing zombies with bats, sledgehammers, garden tools, even a football helmet!
The zombies looked cool – great job there. Plenty of blood. (could always be more though) All around – it’s funny, cool, action packed, zombie killing movie.
I give DANCE OF THE DEAD…3 out of 5 POPCORNS!
