In legendary Chen Village, everyone is a martial arts master, and uses a powerful form of Tai Chi in all aspects of their life. Yang has arrived to try and learn it, only to find that it’s forbidden for the villagers to teach their secret style to an outsider. But when a mysterious man comes to town with a frightening steam-powered machine and plans to build a railroad through a village, the villagers realize they may have no choice but to put their faith in Yang, who has a secret power of his own. With action directed by the legendary Sammo Hung (Ip Man 1 & 2), Tai Chi 0 is a full-on steampunk kung-fu throw down that will knock you out of your seat.

WATCH TRAILER

I had the chance to watch TAI CHI ZERO last night. Yes, I was one of the lucky ones…before it’s actual ‘selected theater’ release date is…THIS FRIDAY! (October 19) So for all my ‘Houston’ Kung Fu fans… it’s showing at the Edwards Greenway Grand Plaza and AMC 30. (lol) But here I am going about the theaters and I haven’t even told you what I thought about the movie. So lets go.

TAI CHI ZERO is definitely an entertaining movie. It reminded me of a ‘”jacked up energy drink.” While watching this movie…I felt like I needed to go outside and run laps. The Kung Fu was on point…including the music. The music got you crunk. A little rock mixed with dubstep. The movie starts off with a huge battle scene – KUNG FU EVERYWHERE. That’s where you meet the main character, Lu Chan – - – now, he seems like your typical Kung Fu dude…but he’s not. When you push, punch, thump that little horn on his head. WATCH OUT NOW!! I know, I know…sounds weird. But when you watch the movie – - – - it’ll all make sense. (I don’t wanna ruin anything for ya.)

TAI CHI ZERO isn’t your typical Kung Fu movie. While watching it…you definitely get the feeling that you’re watching a video game. (lol) It reminded me of SCOTTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD…but way better. (lol) As you can see so far…I’m feeling the movie. But now lets talk about the ‘sexiness’ of the flick. GOOD LORD. Shu Qi from THE TRANSPORTER is in it…Mandy Lieu, she plays Claire and she’s pretty nice to look at. BUT…my favorite…ANGELABABY…yes. that’s her name. Goodness, gracious. THE GIRL IS SMOKING.

Not going to lie – I just searched her on YouTube…I have no idea what she’s saying…and I don’t care!! (lol) She’s got a new fan here in the states!! (lol)

…NOW…there is one thing I didn’t like about TAI CHI ZERO. The ending. See, when it first ends…I was like, “WTF!?!?!?!”…but don’t get up and leave…the movie restarts…and thennnnn finishes. Yeah. It blew. But know this…it doesn’t blow because the ending’s wack…it’s because it’s the first of a trilogy. YEP. PART 1. Coming in January 2013 OR Spring 2013 – - TAI CHI HERO hits theaters and by the look of this one….we’re getting more KUNG FU ACTION.

…I just hate waiting. (lol)

I give TAI CHI HERO… 3 ½ of 5 POPCORNS!
