I checked out DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK the other night. Even though everyone told me it sucked when it came out on the big screen – I still wanted to watch it…I mean, why wouldn’t I – one of the writers was Guillermo de Torro, director of Blade II, Hell Boy, Pan’s Labyrinth and the list goes on. (lol)
The movie stars Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes, and little kid actress named, Bailee Madison. The story goes like this – dad and girlfriend move into this crazy, huge Gothic mansion. One day…the x-wife decides the daughter ‘might’ need to stay with her dad for a while – - – daughter moves there – - not exactly happy…with the house OR the new girlfriend. Short story…cuz I don’t wanna ruin it – daughter Sally starts hearing whispers calling out her name…from the basement – - – she investigates and finds a few new ‘friends’…so she thinks…THEN ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!! The movie isn’t bad – I think people thought it was going to be a horror movie and it’s not – - – if you’re a fan of movies like, GOULIES or THE GATE…this one might be for you.
It’s a perfect family movie…tell the kiddies if they don’t go to sleep…the ‘basement’ will get them!! BYAHAHAHAHAHA!
I give DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK… 3 out of 5 popcorns!
