” [Original Dreamers] is so musically infectious that (Maria) Del Pilar could be singing about road construction and it’d still work, with a rhythm that suggests New York post-disco and classic dance pop but woven with a silken contemporary sheen.” – LA Times

“Song + Canciones II will be a true marker in Maria Del Pilar’s career. She’s unapologetically embraced her ability to craft great pop earwigs y va con todo!” – KCRW

The Chilean-American pop-lover and punk-rocker, María del Pilar will make her debut TV appearance on May 23rdon Starz hit Latino-themed series, VIDA

The artist will perform her new single, ‘Heavy Lifting’ off-of her latest album, “Songs + Canciones II” on VIDA’s sixth episode of Season 2 and will interpret herself while performing an acoustic version of the single with her ukulele on the episode. Previously her song, Se Me Hace Más was featured on VIDA’s trailer and promo campaign for Season 1.

Heavy Lifting is a 60’s Latin American influenced pop-style balled in the likes of Los Angeles Negros, Raphael, Camilo Sesto and Morrisey. “The lyrics are about hoping for someone to get their act together, to evolve, to be able to carry the load equally, but they don’t, and they keep you waiting,” commented Maria del Pilar about the new single she will be performing on the series.

The single brings an English edge to her DIY Riot Grrrl roots and penchant for bilingual lyrics and tough-as nails pop anthems she is known for. Heavy Lifting will be included in the original soundtrack for the Starz original series and will be released digitally by Lakeshore Records on May 24th.

Songs + Canciones II was produced by Filip Nikolic of Poolside, who put his groovy touch onto Pilar’s tendencies towards 70’s nostalgia, world pop, and Latin Alternative sprinkled with a bit of genre-bending LA flavor. The album features collaborations with members of Chicano Batman, No Doubt, Las Cafeteras, Fitz + The Tantrums and more.

Starting on May 23rd you can stream the complete series of VIDA, Season 2 on the Starz app, including episode 6 featuring Maria del Pilar’s live performance of, ‘Heavy Lifting’ on the show and premieres May 26th and will air weekly on Starz (TV) at 8pm.
